We've finally gotton the Route Planning feature into a usable state. We hit a lot of snags around automatic calculation. Many of these are now resolved, but the automatic height gain has proved a real problem. Features that will be launched in the next 2 weeks:-
Route Planning
- Point and click web based interface for defining routes
- Share routes with other users
- A fully searchable database of routes, and the ability to save often used searches
- Automatic distance, bearing, Naismith and time taken calculations for route cards
- Easy to use in-screen editing of final D of E style route card
Paid for Services
- Access to a route for scheduling - unlimited annotated route cards (D of E style), and access to large 1:25 000 scale printable route maps with the route shown on them
- Premium articles from leaders in the Outdoor Adventure industry
Articles
- Access to a wide range of free articles encompassing News, Opinion Pieces, Equipment Reviews and much more
What the future holds
We've also got big new features planned for later on this year. These include:-
- Ability for Instructors to advertise their own courses, and for ActionFinder.co.uk users to search for and book these. Often used searches can be saved and run at any time, with optional e-mail alerts
- Services for other outdoor sports, including Kayaking, Canoeing and Climbing
- Partner associations with advertisers and other Article content providers
- GeoSearch - providing maps overlaid with useful outdoor data of an area including shops, guest houses, routes, and instructor courses and services. Other data for the area shown will be parking with busy-ness rating and last known prices, up to date weather forecasts (general and mountain/coastal)
We hope to make ActionFinder.co.uk the premiere resource and one stop shop for information on the UK outdoor industry. Help us make it as good as we can by registering as a user and leading comments and feedback throughout the site's content and forums.
